From September – November each year is whale watching season.  Basking Humpbacks are commonplace, while South Right, Minke and Killer Whales also visit. Shoreline viewing is commonplace as the whales gather close to the shoreline prior to crossing Bass Strait.  Breaching, tail waving and fin flapping are a common sight.  Boat cruises to view these amazing animals closer up are available from Merimbula and Eden.

The Sapphire Coast offers the very best of clean unpolluted waters. Good surf, beach, rock, estuary as well as deep sea and game fishing are all available.  Bournda Island – only 1.5 kms from Woodbine Park – is a renowned surf and rock fishing spot with tailor, salmon and gummies among the regular catches.  Charter boats operating out of Merimbula, Eden and Bermagui cater for all types of fishing.
